2025 - the start of a new year

We started the new year with hope, energy and exciting plans for the future.
Here we would like to give you a small insight.

Being a light in the dark for others is not always easy when the darkness appears to keeps growing. Yet the need for light increases every day. If you imagine what a single light can do, remember that together we can illuminate far and wide.

With a sense of gratitude, we can tell you that thanks to our support from the Drosos Foundation, over the next two years we will be training professionals from various partner organisations active in the West Bank, Gaza, Lebanon and Jordan.

This training will be provided both on-site and online, with the aim of raising trauma awareness and knowledge. In addition we will be disseminating tools that can be used for trauma-sensitive support in psycho social support programs and interactions with young people in particular.

(Above are some memories of trainings we gave in the past  in the West Bank and Lebanon)

Since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, we have intensified our collaboration with the trauma-specialised organisation Trauma International and integrated their approach to trauma-sensitive support, practical tools and psycho- education as an integral part of the Sounds of Change training sessions.

Trauma International has developed an accessible method for teaching psycho-education about trauma. The approach is highly interactive and practical, using symbols; simple objects such as a bell, a folder or a telephone. What happens in the brain and the body during and after traumatic experiences?

In the animation below you can learn about the alarm bell and why it is so important to be able to calm it down in yourself and in others.

In addition, we will continue our work for and with Ukrainian medical health specialists this year. Since the start of the full-scale war in Ukraine, we have supported and trained this large group of aid workers online. Last November we held on-site training in Ukraine to 32 local professionals.

We are developing further plans and projects but more about those in forthcoming newsletters.
